Restoring the ocean’s blue forests with science, education, and action for a thriving marine future. Together with the Kelp Forest Alliance, Terry supports global efforts to restore and protect kelp ecosystems.
The Kelp Forest Alliance (KFA) is a global initiative advancing the science and restoration of kelp forests: some of the most productive ecosystems on Earth.
Through partnerships with leading universities, local communities, and industry, KFA drives research, capacity building, and ocean education to unlock kelp as a powerful nature-based climate solution.
Based in Sydney, Australia, the Alliance works world wide from Namibia to the Falkland Islands, developing scalable restoration models and training a new generation of marine scientists.
Impact Stats (2024)
🌊 60+ research collaborations across 5 continents
🧬 8 MSc and 1 PhD scholars funded through the Blue House Fellowship
🌱 First-ever global kelp carbon model developed with the University of Cambridge
👩🔬 20+ scientific advisors and researchers advancing kelp carbon and biodiversity science
🏫 Hundreds of children engaged through the Lüderitz Blue School ocean education program
Kelp forests cover 30% of the world’s coastlines and provide essential ecosystem services: carbon capture, biodiversity, fisheries, and nutrient cycling.
Yet these underwater forests are disappearing due to pollution, warming oceans, and overexploitation.
By restoring kelp ecosystems, we restore life: from oxygen production and carbon storage to sustainable livelihoods for coastal communities.
Every purchase made through Terry funds ocean restoration, education, and scientific research that safeguards kelp ecosystems.
Your contribution helps:
Train new marine scientists and local ocean stewards
Support biodiversity and carbon research in Namibia and beyond
Expand kelp forest restoration projects across the globe
Example impact conversion:
€25 spent = 1 m² of kelp forest monitored and restored
100 Terry users = 1,000 m² of marine ecosystem regeneration
From the Namibian coast to the Falkland Islands, KFA’s scientists are uncovering how kelp forests store carbon and rebuild biodiversity.
Through initiatives like the Blue House Fellowship, young Namibian researchers, many women, are studying how kelp farms boost marine life, sequester carbon, and buffer ocean acidification.
Every study expands what we know about the ocean’s regenerative potential.
