Stichting Levend Land is a Dutch non-profit foundation focused on regenerative agriculture, biodiversity restoration, and community building.
Stichting Levend Land is a Dutch non-profit foundation focused on regenerative agriculture, biodiversity restoration, and and community building. Active primarily in and around Amsterdam en Utrecht region, Levend Land works directly with farmers, landowners, and local residents to restore social and ecological functions on farms.
The foundation operates from a systems perspective: regeneration is not treated as an isolated intervention, but as a redesign of how land, food production, and communities interact. Rather than scaling through standardization, Levend Land prioritizes farm-specific needs and improvements.
Impact figures (2024–2025)
Community planting days with 20–30 participants per project
Hundreds of meters of native hedgerows planted on working farms
Establishment of food forests and wind hedges
Introduction of “cow pharmacies”: diverse forage systems supporting animal health and biodiversity
Active collaborations with local farmers and regenerative initiatives
Financial and operational support from Patagonia, and finalised successfully three crowdfunding campaigns for the development of multiple agricultural initiatives
Conventional agriculture has removed many of the landscape elements that once supported biodiversity: hedgerows, buffer zones, and soil-covering vegetation. This has led to declining soil health, reduced resilience to climate extremes, and loss of habitat for insects, birds, and small mammals.
Levend Land addresses these structural issues by restoring ecological complexity within productive farmland. By reintegrating trees, shrubs, and diverse plant systems, the foundation increases biodiversity, improves microclimates, and strengthens the long-term viability of farms, without relying on offsets or abstract compensation mechanisms.
Every purchase made via Terry can support Levend Land’s regenerative work on Dutch farmland.
Contributions through Terry help enable:
Native hedgerow planting and food forest systems
On-farm biodiversity restoration
Community-led regeneration projects close to home
Education and participation around regenerative land use
Example impact:
€10 via Terry → direct funding for 1 meter of hedgerow
100 Terry users → landscape-scale ecological connectivity
During a recent planting day, 22 participants worked together to plant 240 meters of hedgerow. The day began with a shared introduction to landscape restoration and its ecological significance, followed by a collective visualization of the future landscape.
Only then did the planting begin.
Hands in the soil. Focus. Cooperation.
What emerged was not just a hedge, but a restored ecological space and a shared experience of stewardship. These moments, where restoration is tangible and communal, define Levend Land’s approach.
