Shopping &
Sustainability
At Terry, we believe we should consume less. Much less. But when spending is necessary, we want it to happen better. That's why we work with brands whose existing purchases fund nature and climate projects, and why we don't work with everyone.
A tension we don't hide
A platform that earns when people spend also asks those same people to spend less. We're aware of that tension, and we think you deserve to know that we're aware of it too.
Terry wasn't built to get people to buy more. Terry was built for the purchases people already make. For those purchases, we redirect part of the marketing commission stores would already pay: toward nature restoration.
We don't work with everyone
Practical principles, honestly applied. Progress over perfection.
- Fossil fuel producers
- Ultra-cheap marketplaces built on overconsumption
- Everyday shops and essential services
- Travel, aviation and other fossil-dependent sectors
- Sustainable brands that go further
Yes, that includes aviation and other fossil-dependent sectors. People travel, fly, and consume with or without Terry. Given that these transactions happen anyway, we think it's better for part of the commission to go toward nature restoration than for it to disappear entirely into marketing budgets. That doesn't make that activity sustainable, and we don't claim it does.
We believe in buying less.
We choose progress, not perfection.
That's not a contradiction we hide. It's a deliberate choice, made with open eyes. The money was already flowing. We're just redirecting where it lands.
