Foodello is now on Terry: rescue groceries and support nature in one move
There's a new store on Terry: Foodello! This online supermarket rescues good groceries from going to waste, which fits right in with what we stand for. From now on you can shop at Foodello, save money, and support your chosen nature Mission at the same time. At no extra cost to you.
In this post we explain why we're so happy about it. Because rescuing food isn't just a nice bonus. According to the science, it's one of the most powerful things we can do about climate change.
Perfect timing: it's Food Waste Free Week
This news lands at just the right moment, because this week (7 to 13 September 2026) is the Dutch Food Waste Free Week (Verspillingsvrije Week), organised by Samen Tegen Voedselverspilling. For a full week, the country is challenged to throw away as little food as possible.
The numbers behind it are striking. On average, each person in the Netherlands wastes around 33 kilos of food a year. If everyone avoided food waste at home for just one week, we'd save nearly 18 million meals. So there's a lot to gain, and welcoming Foodello to Terry this particular week feels fitting.

What is Foodello?
Foodello is an online supermarket with a simple but important goal: to rescue good groceries from going to waste. Products that would otherwise be thrown away, because of a short shelf life, an outdated label, or simply because too much was produced, get a second chance here. You score them at an average of 50% off.
What started in a garage in Finland in 2016 has grown into a company operating in Finland, the Netherlands and Belgium. And the numbers are climbing fast: in the Netherlands and Belgium alone, they've already rescued more than 8 million kilos of groceries. The range changes every day, because new surplus batches keep coming in.
Their motto sums it up nicely: smart for the world, smart for yourself, and smart for each other. Exactly the kind of thinking that warms our hearts.
Why rescuing food matters so much
This is where it gets genuinely interesting. Tackling food waste might sound like a small thing, but it's one of the biggest climate solutions there is.
And that's not us talking, that's Project Drawdown: a respected group of scientists studying which solutions most effectively curb global warming. Their conclusion is strikingly clear: reducing food waste ranks among the most effective solutions in the world.
Here's the heart of it:
The scale is enormous. Roughly a third of all food on earth is thrown away. That waste is responsible for an estimated 8 to 10 percent of all global greenhouse gas emissions.
You throw away far more than just food. Every discarded product also contains all the water, farmland, tractor fuel and labour it took to make it. All of that is lost too.
Prevention beats composting. Project Drawdown stresses that preventing waste at the source is far more effective than composting food after it's been thrown out.
In other words: every product Foodello rescues not only keeps food out of the bin, but also saves all the emissions and resources that went into it. That's climate impact you simply drop into your shopping bag.
About that best-before date: look, smell, taste
A large share of food waste comes down to a misunderstanding about the best-before date. Important to know: that date is a quality guarantee from the manufacturer, not a throw-away moment.
Many dry, canned and frozen products are still perfectly safe and tasty months or even years after that date, as long as the packaging is sealed and the product has been stored properly. So the advice from food authorities is simple: use your senses first. Look, smell and taste. In the vast majority of cases, there's nothing wrong at all.
Foodello embraces exactly this idea. It's even the thinking behind their own "Look, smell, taste" approach: by giving products around or just past the best-before date a second chance, they pull good groceries back out of the waste stream. And you benefit, with a hefty discount.
Why Foodello and Terry are such a good match
At Terry we believe in one simple idea: you don't have to consume more to do something good. You can simply let the purchases you already make land somewhere better. Foodello is a textbook example.
You buy groceries anyway. Food shopping isn't extra consumption, it's a daily routine. Do it at Foodello through Terry, and you rescue food and generate a donation for your nature Mission.
Double impact, zero extra cost. You save money (an average of 50% off), you prevent food waste, and part of the commission goes to the nature project you chose. Three wins, without paying a cent more.
The same values. "Smart for the world, smart for yourself, and smart for each other" could easily have been the motto of a Terry Mission. Foodello proves that existing economic flows can be given a positive destination, which is exactly why Terry exists.

How to take part
Want to rescue groceries at Foodello and support nature at the same time? Go to Foodello through Terry, do your shopping the way you already would, and your purchase automatically generates a donation for your chosen Mission. No extra cost, no extra effort.
Consume less. Spend better. And sometimes, like at Foodello, you do both at once.
